About
I'm Michael Papich, and I am a screenwriter, director, and reluctant film editor, with a Master's of Fine Art from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. I create stories that span genres, creating what are less like comedies and more of what I like to call "dramas with jokes." I draw on everything around me for inspiration, from films, music, and novels to sports, history, politics, and my own experiences as a newspaper reporter.

It is commonplace for a writer and producer to give what's known as their "A-Story" to make themselves known to a new acquaintance. But like in Souleymane Cissé's seminal film "Yeelen," I convey myself through what I create and not my words. On this website, you can find samples of my scrips, as well as films I wrote, directed, and edited.
